Traditional Ethnic Wears for Men & Women
India is a country with a wide variety of religions, ethnicities, tribes, cultures, and traditions. Types of clothing, which different people wear also vary according to their ethnicity and the place of living they belong. During festive seasons like Diwali, Dusshera, Eid-Al-Fitr, Ramadan, Makar Sankranti, Durga Puja, Christmas, and other such festivals Indians are fond of wearing new and traditional forms of dresses. We definitely don’t have a lack of options when it comes to Indian wear and traditional attire. An extensive range of clothing can be obtained for the assorted range of special occasions for men as well as women.
Traditional Dresses for Women:
Indian women wear various kinds of clothes depending as much upon the climate, as their culture and religion. Clothing for women includes lehengas, saris, and salwar kameez. They are known worldwide to be gorgeous pieces of clothing for various different occasions. Women wear saris that are made of diverse materials and textures, depending upon the occasion and mood of the time she wants to adorn.
Sarees can be worn along with either a simply crafted blouse or even a trendy, fashionable one. Girls would also consider wearing a petticoat underneath it. Women also accessorize their outfits with Bindis, Jhumkas, Kundan, and the like. There are other traditional add-on pieces of clothing that can be purchased as well, like dupattas, gamchhas, churidar, Mundus, Khara dupatta, Kurtis, and women sherwanis.
Hence as already established a saree is a traditional garment for females in the Indian subcontinent. Various kinds of sarees, of different forms, textures, and designs can be found throughout India; for example Sambalpuri sarees in the East, Paithani in the West, Banarasi in the North, and Kanchipuram in the South. Women these days like to experiment with the styles and designs, owing to the changing times and conventions. It’s no longer the time when long-sleeved blouses and clothing most of the body were considered to be decent and apt; now women are no longer afraid to experiment with their clothes and in turn, some of the most daring and new trends are created every now and then.
Salwar Kameez is another hip and at the same time, everyday kind of clothing which is preferred by Asian women all around the world. It is much more common among Afghanistani and Pakistani women. Shalwar kameez is usually worn with a dupatta which is meant to be used to cover the head and bosom but can be styled according to one’s liking.
Traditional Dresses for Men:
It’s a widely known fact (or is it?) that men do not have as many choices as women do for clothes. However conventional Indian clothing for men which includes kurta pajama/dhoti and other clothes like Mundus etc make up for the lack of better pieces of clothing in western wear for men.
Now, traditional party wear for men is sherwani which is like a long jacket that is designed and stitched especially for men, suiting their needs as per the occasion. It can be casual as well as formal and is sure to look ravishing on one. It is mostly in the form of an Indian traditional jacket and is preferred almost always when looking for suitable wear for any kind of occasion.
